London : John Newton, 60 Chancery Lane, 1839. Celestial miniature table globe, 4¾-inch (12 cms.) in diameter, printed gores over a plaster base, brass half meridian, on original turned rosewood support and triform stand with ball feet in white. A fine example.

A very rare miniature celestial table globe in fine condition, with a pictorial depiction of the constellations.

John Newton (1759-1844) was the founder of a firm of globe makers in London, established in the 1780s and continuing on, with the involvement of Newton’s sons, throughout the nineteenth century.
