Studio portrait of a lady in half-mourning. Geelong, Victoria, c.1867.

Albumen print photograph, carte de visite format, 100 x 65 mm (mount); verso imprinted ‘Turner’s New Portrait Rooms, 66 Moorabool St. (seven doors above Little Malop Street.) Geelong. Prize Medal, Exhibition 1866.  the print and the mount are both in excellent condition.

Black dress, black lace shawl, black umbrella, black ribbon – but the black bonnet has lighter coloured decoration, suggesting perhaps that this lady was in the second period of mourning (known as half-mourning).
