North Sydney, NSW : The Aboriginal Arts Board, Australia Council (under the patronage of the Shepparton City Council), 1976. Exhibition catalogue. Square octavo (185 x 185 mm), stapled pictorial self-wrappers, 26 pp., b/w photographic illustrations; a good copy.

This exhibition, which anticipated the official opening of the International Village in Shepparton, northern Victoria, featured traditional dance performances by troupes from Papua New Guinea, the Torres Strait and the Tiwi Islands – the individual dances are all named and described in this catalogue. On display were bark paintings, Western Desert art, Tiwi crafts, and 43 Melanesian tribal artefacts from the famous Christensen Collection (Palo Alto, California), each briefly described here. The last five pages of the catalogue comprise a detailed inventory of Papuan arts and crafts offered for sale (prices included) by Bortignon of Sydney and Perth, as agents for Third World Arts Pty. Ltd.

Note: Niugini is spelt incorrectly as Nuigini on the front cover, on the title page and throughout the catalogue.
