Complete set of twelve magic lantern glass slides, uniform 82 x 82 mm format, illustrated by the chromolithographic transfer process; numbered printed caption labels to top edges of mounts; one slide is lacking its label, another has a diagonal hairline crack across the front glass, otherwise the set is in very good condition.

This scarce complete set of lantern slides tells the story of an early 19th-century emigrant family’s dramatic voyage from England to Australia. The captions are as follows:

The set was originally issued in a box that included an informational leaflet.

The London magic lantern slide maker John Theobald (1858-1926) was in business between the early 1880s and 1911.
