Quarto, gilt-lettered and decorated white buckram (very lightly marked, but a crisp, clean copy), illustrated endpapers, 93 pp, occasional light scattered foxing and offsetting, short tear to margin of pp. 61-62, 16 colour and 15 black and white plates, a fine copy.

The first of A. & C. Black’s large format works of Outhwaite, ‘luxury books’ as described by Muir & Holden, lavishly illustrated and finely printed. A very good example. Muir 5595.
