Octavo, gilt-lettered red cloth with gilt rule and image of the Queen of Hearts to upper and lower boards (edges lightly rubbed), all edges gilt, early owner’s name to endpaper dated 1888, pp. [xii], 224; (2 – advertisements), frontispiece illustration with tissue guard and other illustrations by Tenniel, text block a little shaken, internally clean, a very good copy, unrestored in the original binding.
The second state of the first edition of Carroll’s masterwork of children’s literature, correcting the misprint of “wade” in the Jabberwocky poem on page 21. An attractive copy.
