The abridged English edition (two parts in the one volume), published the same year at the first English edition (three separate volumes), of this important Russian expedition to explore the coastline of the Pacific north-west. Its includes important ethnographic and scientific observations in Alaska, California the Pacific coastline and the Sandwich Islands (Hawaii). Sponsored by Count Romanzof, it was the second Russian circumnavigation (the first being Krusenstern and Lisyansky in 1803-06) and one of three circumnavigations made by von Kotzebue.
