First Swedish translations – albeit abridged – of both works. The translator was Samuel Ödmann (1750-1829).

The more significant of the two is of course the First Fleet account of John White, the newly appointed first Surgeon-General of New South Wales, which also includes a summary of Cook, Extracts from Captain James Cook’s Journal, kept during his Voyage on the Coast of New Holland, in the year 1770 (pp. 115-147).

The second is the narrative of John Hynes describing the miserable fate of the passengers and crew of the East Indiaman Grosvenor, shipwrecked off the Pondoland coast of southern Africa in 1782 en route to England from Trincomalee in Ceylon.
