Quarto (300 x 255 mm), original blind-blocked navy cloth, upper board with the word ‘SCRAPS’ lettered in gilt, recent leather spine lettered in gilt ‘Scraps and Valentines’; [54] pages, filled with mounted die-cut chromolithographic scraps and other illustrated paper ephemera, the most common subjects being feminine beauty; animals; flowers; Christmas, Valentine’s Day and birthday greetings; religion; humour; children, and idyllic landscapes; no ownership inscription, but almost certainly compiled by an adolescent girl; scattered foxing.
