Two volumes, duodecimo (140 x 85 mm), contemporary vellum with embossed decoration (darkened and heavily worn, the Psalm book with some loss at top edge and head of spine); original Dutch gilt pastedowns with floral motif in green (front pastedown of New Testament with short tears and staining); New Testament with original owner’s inscription of [G. P.?] Schmith to verso of title, and a nineteenth-century inscription in Danish to the front endpaper stating that ‘this book has belonged to Svend Nielsen, clerk in Aistrup [i.e. Ajstrup], died 1845/47. Who Schmith is, is not known’ (our translation); contents clean throughout, both bindings brittle but holding.
