The third and final edition of the “Commentarios” of the second Viceroy of Portuguese India, Afonso de Albuquerque (c. 1453 – 1515) who served in the position from 1509 – 1515. His commentaries cover Portuguese conquests in the Persian Gulf and Arabian Sea, the island of Hormuz, Ceylon, Goa, Calicut and Malacca. His account of travels and exploration were compiled by his son and first published in 1557, revised in 1576. The first English language edition was published by the Hakluyt Society in 1875.
