Polish-born artist Henryk Szydlowski attained his Masters of Fine Art at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow, before emigrating to New Zealand in the 1970s where he was a lecturer at the Whitcliffe Art School. Szydlowski exhibited his oils and linocuts in Australia and New Zealand, relocating to Perth in the mid 1980s. His work is highly decorative, and a poetic contemporary articulation of the abstract expressionism originating in the works of Klee, Kandinsky and other European masters.
