Explorer Walter Cuthbertson’s account of his 1887 British New Guinea expedition, which was financed by the Victorian branch of the Royal Geographical Society of Australasia. W. A. Sayer accompanied the expedition as naturalist. This is the text of Cuthbertson’s lecture read at the Society’s general meeting on 25 November 1887, soon after his return; it was published immediately under the Society’s imprimatur.
