Gide’s tribute to Wilde was originally published in the June 1902 edition of L’Ermitage. It contains a poem by Wilde not reprinted since its original appearance in Dublin University Magazine in 1876, and a list of Wilde’s works with bibliographical notes. Gide’s memoir of the two great writers’ encounters in France and North Africa is regarded as one of the best accounts of Wilde’s later years.
