The map itself shows the north coast of the island of New Guinea and offshore islands with some accuracy, including the marking and naming of the Riviere St Augustin (Gabina River) and Riviere des Vierges. Although showing a substantial portion of the Gulf of Carpentaria coastline, the mapping indicates no certain knowledge that the northeastern part of Australia is separated from New Guinea.
