A scarce catalogue of Russian folk art (rebranded as “Soviet peasant home industries”) staged in New York in February 1929, around the time that Trotsky was expelled from the Soviet Union and Stalin’s first Five Year Plan was in full swing. The exhibition catalogue is divided into sections that include Palekh painting, woodcarving, chinaware, pottery, lacquered woodenware, jewelry, rugs, toys and dolls, carved ivory, printed textiles, and embroidery.
