$35.00 AUD
Crows Nest, NSW : Charles Dunn, printer (for NSBHS), 1918. Octavo, decorative wrappers in the school colours, lower wrapper with advertisement for Miller Street furnishing firm Gourlay Bros. (light crease to lower wrapper and last couple of leaves); pp. 36, photographically illustrated; includes staff list, editorial, obituaries, class reports, student poetry and articles, debating and sports reports, Honour Roll, etc.; a very good copy.
Towards the end of World War One, NSBHS’s headmaster was still Charles Rattray Smith – although he would leave later that year – and the deputy head was R. F. Harvey, who would go on to serve as headmaster between 1932 and 1947. (Two of the school’s “houses” were of course named in these men’s honour). The school captain was Keith Kirkland, who would represent Australia in swimming at the 1920 Antwerp Olympics.
According to Trove, SLNSW appears to be the only library to hold this particular number of The Falcon.
