Programme for the 1923 Paris season of impresario Nikita Balieff’s touring theatre revue La Chauve-Souris (The Bat). Founded in Moscow in 1907, and based in Paris from 1917, Balieff’s troupe toured Europe, the United States and South Africa during the 1920s and early 1930s, achieving great popular and critical success. Its cabaret-style performances consisted of songs, dances, and sketches, most of which had been originally performed in Russia.
