Group of 7 (seven) booklets, stapled pictorial wrappers in uniform 100 x 145 mm format, each with a 16-page story in Warlpiri, followed by [2] pages of English translation; line-drawn illustrations; a few of the wrappers with some light staining, contents excellent throughout.
A very scarce group of Warlpiri readers comprising seven stories by June Napanagka. The titles are as follows:
Yankirri-kirli (Hunting for emus); Yarla-kurlu (Gathering bush potatoes); Juju-kurlu (Story about a devil); Mungalyurrurlu kalu ngapa kardirni (Getting water in the morning); Nyurnu-kurlangu maliki-kirli (The sick man’s dog); Ngapa-puru kalu nyinami yujukurla (Sitting in the humpy during the rain); Jarnpa-kurlu (A devil-man).
Warlpiri (C15) is spoken by over 3000 speakers in the Tanami Desert region of the Northern Territory, including the communities at Yuendumu, Lajamanu, Nyirrpi, and Willowra.
